CARE FOR YOUR TEMPORARY PARTIAL DENTURE

We recommend:

Cleaning your denture with warm water, liquid hand soap and a denture brush.

When brushing your denture over the sink, either fill with water or place a facecloth in the basin. This will decrease the chance for chipping or breaking if the denture slips while brushing.

If heavy stain builds up you could use a denture cleaner such as Fixodent with Proguard or Polident. (Do not use these products if you have a temporary soft liner in your denture) If stain is persistent your dentist has ways to remove it with a short visit to the office.

When you are not wearing your denture it should be placed in water. With a little bit of mouthwash, for freshness if you would like.

A Temporary Partial Denture is to be considered as “social teeth”. It is for smiling and speaking and usually does not function well for chewing. Depending on the design of the partial denture, heavy chewing may cause breakage or fracture. If your partial denture does break call the office immediately to be advised of the steps to have it repaired or replaced. There may be a charge for repairs, depending on the complexity of the situation.
